The English Democrats are pro-Brexit, patriotic, and want controlled borders and if you are genuinely an 'English Nationalist' who wants an English Parliament then they are probably a good political party for you. But - if like me you are a patriot, a British Unionist, and someone who wants a single parliament for the whole of the UK & NI then you would be best off not voting for them.

The English Democrats have always been a home of disgruntled UKIP members, ex-BNP Council candidates, and others, but it has always confused me in all honesty. I understand for some the idea of being English is more important than being British, but how can a British Unionist all of a sudden become an English Nationalist overnight? I think the English Democrats is a good place for anyone of genuinely believes in creating an English Parliament or Assembly, but I would urge fellow Unionists against voting for or joining the English Democrats unless you are prepared to abandon British Unionism.

I understand the appeal of the English Democrats in many ways. They campaigned for withdrawal from the European Union (EU), they are fairly vocal against legal and illegal migration, Robin Tilbrook is eloquent and is quite obviously an educated and serious man with principles, and they have been around since 2002 and have always had the same person as the helm. They are considered "Right-wing" and have attracted a fairly varied selection of candidates in their history in all fairness to them, but the British Union is of utmost importance. English Assemblies or Parliaments will only lead to disaster and further division and strife.

The English Democrats have had an obscure and arduous battle in British politics. They have not really achieved anything of any substantial importance other than getting a Mayor elected in Doncaster in 2009 on "common-sense" policies that were more BNP in all fairness.

Peter Davis promised tough punishments for "young thugs", to cut translation services and "PC jobs" and to slash council funding for Doncaster's annual LGBT Pride event, his tenure as mayor began to unravel only a few days after the election when he gave a car-crash interview to BBC Radio Sheffield. Under gentle quizzing from the station's presenter Toby Foster, it emerged that Davies had not bothered to find out if he could legally fulfill his pledges.

Peter Davis remains the fringe party's crowning achievement in politics in terms of getting anywhere in a democratic election, he actually achieved a feat that would have been considered nearly impossible - especially for someone standing for office in the name of a political party that was not a household name and had no significant achievements of success.

I would advise that you vote for a pro-Brexit, Unionist candidate who believes in controlled borders and no Sex Education for children - if that is at all possible in your respective ward or parish. The safety of the British people and the dignity of our sons and daughters are priceless and candidates who want the same should be cherished.
