China is a Rogue State
China is simply I'd argue, a wolf in sheep's clothing. The Chinese government has repeatedly shown a lack of respect for the west. They have no interest in human rights and they run their country like a back street sweatshop, paying extremely low wages and imposing very few workers rights.
They even import cheap labour from North Korea, a country that they respect and help. Aside from the long history of human rights violations and corruption within their own country, China has used its global position to start influencing our own countries by owning multitudes of businesses worldwide, making them major shareholders in all of the worlds major economies.Cheap, low-quality goods are ruining our planet as well as challenging our businesses that refuse to lower quality to such extents to meet Chinese competition. We should not expect our businesses in the UK to comply with workers rights, minimum wage and quality standards, and at the same time allow foreign competition with a significant advantage to have free access to our markets. Even with the added 25% import tax, Chinese products can still be far cheaper than British made alternatives. The current culture of cheap, plastic disposable goods is a wolf in sheep's clothing. It may make our lives marginally easier, and appear cheaper but in reality we are supporting businesses in china, not the UK, we are funding the world's biggest communist superpower and ruining our environment with mass amounts of plastic in the process. Each time you purchase from china, you put British money in the Chinese governments pocket, making their economy stronger and ours weaker, and in return, you get poor quality goods that will likely end up broken, in landfill. The government could ban trading with China but real change can start at home. All we have to do is commit to buying British made goods, keeping our money in our country. It is time we stop trying to live the best of both worlds, we can not say we oppose underpaid child labour whilst openly funding it, we cannot ignore the fact we are funding a major communist superpower and we must support our manufacturers.China has only shown further how irresponsible and untrustworthy they are during the COVID-19 pandemic where they have repeatedly lied about and covered up data from China. China was aware of the threat COVID-19 posed from as early as November 2019, and made efforts to silence concerned members of china's medical services. The Chinese government has shown a complete lack of interest in other nations safety and allowed citizens to travel globally and despite mass data showing the source of the virus was china, they falsely blamed other nations such as the US and Italy for the virus whilst rejecting international assistance. It is staggering to see the extent china has gone to cover up the origin of the virus instead of fixing the problem at hand. There is plenty of reasons why the UK needs to distance itself from China. Too many to fit in anything short of a book. All it takes is a little bit of common sense to see that an ally of North Korea, with numerous human rights violations, a communist government and a track record of complete incompetence and corruption should not be able to compete in western markets, and have such stakes in our economies. We must support our own country and people, allow our own industries to thrive that will, in turn, make more jobs in Britain.UKIP is the only party that properly recognises the importance of supporting British industry, making more jobs for British people, giving young people a chance in a country where, at the moment, our futures are bleak.Jordan Gaskell
